Your Next Shift: A Nursing Career Podcast

Oct 28, 2015

Today's nursing podcast reminds us just how important presence is. Being able to make and take the time to stay focused on the patient in front of us is of great value to the professional connect we share with them.

In addition, today's guest introduces a key concept to how we can easily enjoy our careers. When we come from a place of service, the day-to-day tasks become more meaningful and full of value. I thoroughly enjoyed this week's interview and hope that my conversation with Laurel Lewis inspires your nursing career.

A few take aways from our interview with Laurel:

  • How a career philosophy of service makes for a joyful career;
  • Why Laurel’s upbringing in the slow-paced south has made her a more present nurse;
  • And what she learned from failing a final exam.

Laurel Lewis, RN, BSN, MA is founder of the death and dying dinner party and deathis.com.  She is a hospice RN and spiritual counselor, co-hosts retreats to Bali, and spends time coaching private clients using her master’s degree in spiritual psychology.
